What do we do when we have prayed for a situation or for a healing, and things actually get worse? Do we doubt, cry, despair, or blame God? No, we stand firm in faith and hope. We continue to pray. We fiercely believe in God’s Word. We stand unafraid and courageous. We don’t give up; we don’t give out; we don’t give in. (Joshua 1:9). Obedience, courage, and fearlessness made Joshua one of Israel’s strongest leaders. He provided a bold example for us to follow. Like us, Joshua was often besieged by worldly voices, but he chose to always be brave and faithfully follow God. Joshua took the Ten Commandments seriously and never backed away from their truths. Even though Joshua was not perfect, he proved that if you follow God, even when the way might be frightening or challenging, God’s rewards will overtake you. May 2019 be your year of deepening steadfastness and loyalty to the Lord.
