“Your clothing did not wear out on you, nor did your foot swell these forty years.” Deuteronomy 8:4
The beauty of this passage is that it once again reminds us that zero is a good number!
If the Israelites had been asked how many pairs of shoes had they gone through on their journey or how many sets of clothes had they worn out over the forty years the answer would have been zero. In our world we tend to be threatened by the number zero because it makes us feel less than those who have a positive number to report regarding some matter whether it be bank account size or numbers in attendance at some event. However, it is all a matter of perspective.
Sometimes it is good to be able to report a zero.
It would be a victory to be able to report that we have no (0) debts to pay, no (0) marriages in our family that went through a divorce last year, no (0) people who died from illnesses, no (0) children who have fallen away from the Lord, or no (0) friends who have become addicted to some form of substance abuse.
In fact today you may be feeling like a big zero, but in reality, it is just a matter of perspective, and the cup you feel is empty is really quite full of wonderful blessing and victory.
