“But My servant Caleb, because he has had a different spirit and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land which he entered, and his descendants shall take possession of it.” Numbers 14:24
“A different spirit,” –what a wonderful description of this man of faith, and how it made him exceptional.
When everything in his life was headed the wrong way, and 40 years would be wasted because of the faithlessness of the children of Israel, Caleb did not complain nor rebel.
He trusted God and believed that God would be faithful to His promise…and God was. Caleb revered God in simple humble service and believed Him, not just in Him. He would remain faithful when others weren’t, and he would not let their failures corrupt his heart.
May God grant us the ability to have a different spirit as well. May we cultivate faithfulness to Him, and trust that the result will be immeasurable fruit.
