“Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart.” Luke 18:1
The word “ought” is emphatic.
It implies that there is an obligation whether we feel like it or not. In fact I am sure there are many times we don’t pray because at that moment we may feel as if no one is listening to our prayer.
But here, we are reminded that prayer is a form of work and there are things that can only be accomplished as we converse with our King. Though our heart may not be completely in it there are those counting on us to be in agreement with their desperate plea.
We must fight instead of faint when evil tries to numb us into inactivity. There are victories today to be gained.
