After breaking open an alabaster jar of perfumed oil, a woman poured it over Jesus’ head.
It was a profound act of love, and she did not do it to impress His disciples or to gain public attention. She simply sought to express her love for Jesus.
She did nothing spectacular; she performed no miracles; she preached no sermons. Yet Jesus was so moved by her selfless loyalty, that He deemed it worthy of remembrance throughout the remainder of history.
He said, “Truly I tell you, wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.” (Mark14:9)
