“After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect (restore), confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” 1 Peter 5:10
When you read about the great heroes in the Bible almost all of them followed the same pattern. They experienced a kind of dilemma, loss and suffering, and are forced on some kind of life journey because of a crisis. What happens is not meant to destroy them, but actually make them into the kind of people who can truly handle a greater call and a more significant role.
The purpose was to breakdown the false self which is often tied to achievements and possessions. It is in the midst of their downturn they have a greater awareness of God and the need for His more intimate involvement in their life.
Time and again God shows Himself faithful by restoring, confirming, strengthening, and establishing them.
He will do the same for you and I, because our purpose in this world is significant and strategic, and part of His plan. Because He has bigger things in mind regarding our lives, it requires a much stronger and deeper foundation on which to build.
