Evil loves for us to be distracted by the shadows and to spend time staring into them as if we can see through the darkness on our own. God promises us that His light will reveal where we are, (“For it is You who light my lamp; the Lord my God lightens my darkness.” Psalm 18:28), and His word will tell us where we are going (Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”.Psalm 119:105)
Added to that darkness is at His mercy and will be overcome at the right and righteous time. (“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5)
“Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.” Do you remember that worship song from years ago? It is true today.
