“Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” James 4:7
Running from evil in a fallen world can leave one in despair, because we will end up running from one evil inspired problem to another.
The Bible teaches that we have the authority to resist what the devil does, but that cannot be done through mere human resistance alone. James doesn’t just tell us to resist the devil, as there is a preparatory step that comes first.
We must submit to God, because we need supernatural authority outside of the natural realm. We must focus on the One who we know is in charge and who makes decisions based upon His will, and not on how we feel. It is not that our feelings are not real, but they are usually a reaction when what is needed is a response in faith according to God’s guidance.
Also, bullies are not stopped, let alone defeated, by ignoring them. This is why the word ignore is the key component in the word ignorance. There is no peace-deal that can ever last with the “father of lies.”
In short, today decide to submit to the Lord and trust Him with everything.
I know it is not easy to trust, but because Jesus is the visible revelation of the heart of God, who else is more trustworthy than Him?
