I was asked by a young Christian what I believed was the greatest danger to the Christian in America.
It did not take me long to have an answer because I have had such a strong conviction in my heart regarding this very thing. My answer is two fold.
First, I believe that the greatest danger is false leaders. Leaders who propagate their own version of the truth, one that is more convenient and comfortable and more subtlety appealing to our fallenness . These leaders are more interested in attaching people to themselves than to Jesus. The end result is a very watered down gospel that severely cheapens the message and meaning of Christ.
The second danger is that of discouragement. Jesus warned us that there would come a time when peoples love would grow cold because of the increasing lawlessness in the world. It takes a mature faith to remain steady in tough times and that refuses to believe that God’s arm is shortened or that His power has somehow weakened or subsided.
Paul said it best, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.” Ephesians 6:10-11
