FIERCE STORMS IN OUR LIVES

“In fierce storms,” said an old seaman, “we must do one thing; there is only one way: we must put the ship in a certain position and keep her there.” 

This is what we all must do. We must set our face to look for the silver lining in the cloud, and when we have found it, continue to look at it, rather than all the darkness around it. 

Do not yield to discouragement no matter how hard pressed you may be. A discouraged soul is helpless because fear looks at the wind and the waves when faith needs to be fixed on God in the midst of the storm.

Remember, Peter walked on water until he “saw the wind, and became frightened, and began to sink” (Matt. 14:30). 

Even in the storms, God is up to something great that has eternal significance.
