GOD’S GLORY

GOD’S GLORY

God by His nature and character is good. He is the original definition of good.

When Moses boldly pleaded with God, “Please, show me Your glory,” he was asking to see God for who He really is. So, what did God show him? Exodus 33:19-20 gives God’s response: “I will cause all My goodness to pass in from of you and I will proclaim the name Yahweh before you.”

Moses wanted to see God’s glory. God showed him something so wonderful and accessible that it caused the skin of Moses’ face to glow with the radiance of God’s presence. He showed His goodness.

As beautiful as this sounds the issue of God’s goodness truly troubles us when we face adverstiy or tragedy. In pain we can say or at least think, “How can a good God allow……………….!? Yet, this is the same God who allowed Jesus to suffer in our place for our benefit. Good Friday reminds us that in faith we tend to be nearsighted and our ability to see the complete  picture is often lost among the distortion and blurriness of time. Faith embraces Him in our pain, and trusts in His love and goodness.

We remember, “You are good and You do good: Teach me Your statutes.” Psalm 119:68

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good.” 1 Chronicles 16:34

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
