“…the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house on account of Joseph; thus the Lord’s blessing was upon all that he owned, in the house and in the field.” Genesis 39:5b
God’s favor was upon Joseph, and Potiphar the Egyptian, benefited greatly from the overflow of blessings that were poured forth in Joseph’s life.
Though Potiphar owned Joseph as a slave, he was humble enough to recognize that he was being blessed through Joseph, and put Joseph in charge of all that he had.(v.6)
This is a reminder to us that all the real blessings, the one’s that can not be produced by mans skill, talent, and intelligence, are poured forth into our lives through the Godly men and women around us. They are but vessels, but they are God’s chosen deliverers of heavenly gifts.
It is not a matter of luck, it is a matter of blessing, and the truly humble people recognize this, and are grateful to God for the display of His power and love. People can do us favors, but only God can give us favor to accomplish things that will last and continue to be fruitful.
We should be thankful for the people who channel the favor of God to us, and be the kind of people who channel His favor to others.
