We all have a tendency to believe that good things happen after we are obedient to the Lord!
I think the disciples had the same expectations when Jesus made them get into a boat to go ahead of Him to the other side of the lake.( Mark 6:45) They did as He said, and where did it get them…all night in the midst of a storm with the Master on the shore!
That storm washed away the naive assumption that if you do what is right, you will never suffer.
They needed to know that the life of following Christ would be turbulent, against the prevailing winds of this fallen world, and a struggle through no fault of their own.
BUT, Jesus was calling them into that struggle, and they would always know He would be watching, praying, and would come to them at just the right time to calm the storm! AMEN! He does the same for us today!!
