“He arose struck the Philistines until his hand was weary and clung to the sword, and the Lord brought about a great victory that day.” 2 Sam. 23:10
This passage is about Eleazar, one of the three mighty men with David. When the men of Israel withdrew Eleazar did not and brought about a great victory. However this did not happen without great effort and energy.
He is a testament to the words of another great military leader who said, ” There are no victories at discount prices.” (Dwight Eisenhower)
Life and its many problems are never easy and though God promises us victories, it is not disconnected from the fact that we have a part to play, and it might demand a lot of us.
As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is brave five minutes longer.”
God is looking to showcase a people who are tenacious and not afraid of being in it for the long haul. Don’t give up, don’t give in, and don’t give out. God will bless your efforts and magnify the outcome.
