“Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” Proverbs 16:24

It has been said, “Words are the most powerful drug used by mankind.  Words are like nitroglycerine: they can blow up bridges or heal hearts.”

Words have brought peace or war, life or death.  Words have made and broken reputations and careers.  They have been taught as the secret to success and are often the evidence behind horrible failure.

Yet sometimes, the best statement we can make is our silence.  Sometimes silence is the best way to be heard.  Some of the greatest speeches have had the fewest words.  As one author stated:  “You’ll almost never hurt yourself by what you don’t say.”  “Don’t speak unless you can improve on the silence.”

Harriet Beecher Stowe stated, “Let us all resolve: first, to attain the grace of silence; second, to deem a sin all fault-finding that does no good; third, to practice the grace and virtue of praise.”

Today, draw your words from the honeycomb!”
