Romans 10:14-15. “14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’.”
Just before Christmas I was taken back by the truth written into a Christmas carol which I had considered to be for children. It was a fairly new song written in 1962 and made famous by Bing Crosby in 1963 and as a result swept the nation. The song is, “Do you Hear What I Hear?” The song begins with these words, “Said the night wind to the little lamb, do you see what I see, way up in the sky little lamb?” It sets in motion a powerful progression where the lamb is inspired to speak to the shepherd boy saying, “Do you hear what I hear?” which then inspires the shepherd boy to speak to the mighty king saying, “Do you know what I know?” and the answer inspires the mighty king to speak to the people everywhere.
This whole progression started with the “Night Wind” speaking to the simplest little lamb. What is the Night Wind you might ask? I believe the wind represents the Holy Spirit who is the source of power and inspiration in the believer’s life to move us to be a witness for Jesus Christ.
Jesus told us that when He went back to heaven He would send us a Helper, the Holy Spirit who would guide us and empower us.
That is why our theme for 2025 is “Listen to the Night Wind.” Do you see, do you hear, do you know enough to speak to people everywhere? If not tell the Lord that you are listening, looking, and learning from His word that you might speak.
